Recognition of Applicant Status
The Texas Alliance of Accredited Private Schools acknowledges the importance to an institution of obtaining status or affiliation with TAAPS. Institutions that have been in existence for a minimum of three years to meet the standards for membership in TAAPS will normally be expected to be evaluated on that basis. It is, therefore, anticipated that this category of recognition will to a great extent be most useful for new schools. It is a temporary status. Schools in the Applicant status may not use the TAAPS logo and/or name for publicity purposes in any of the literature of the institution, including the catalog, or the press.
Conditions for recognition by afflliation with TAAPS in this category are as
follows:

1. Traditional or non-traditional schools, elementary and/or secondary, developing in accordance with the general standards for membership in TAAPS may be considered for recognition.

2. Such an institution would be required:

A. To provide a statement of philosophy, aims, objectives, and organizational structure.

B. To undergo a visit from representatives of TAAPS, to seek information on organizational and educational objectives, management, administrative organizations, faculty and curriculum; admissions policy, physical plant, financial prospect for immediate stability and meeting long-range objectives; an estimate of the integrity of purpose and design of the institution; and the degree to which progress toward accreditation is being made.

C. To pay the Applicant Visit Fee of $425.00 to cover costs of the investigation and processing of the application; and the cost of the visitation which will include $100.00 per day per visiting team member assigned, travel, meals, lodging and out-of-pocket expenses incurred. Checks are to be made payable to TAAPS for expenses.

3. The Standards Committee of TAAPS would make a recommendation to TAAPS Board of Directors for recognition of those institutions which, after such investigation, appear to the Committee to merit this status. When the Applicant Status is conferred, the administrator of the school may be entitled to attend, without vote, the annual meeting of TAAPS. If Applicant Status is granted, to pay the Annual dues for TAAPS Applicant Status Member.

4. Affiliation with TAAPS in this status may be enjoyed for a maximum period of five years. If the institution does not by that time succeed in meeting the standards for membership in TAAPS, it must be removed from this category. Removal does not preclude the possibility that the institution may be examined later, but it may not under those circumstances be readmitted to the status of Accreditation Candidacy.
